Capcom has revealed that fan favorite Resident Evil 2 could receive a HD remake only if the support is there. It’s not in development and the publisher was sure to make that perfectly clear.
Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said that there’s a possibility of a remake, but that in no way guarantees that there will be one. “If the fans really clamor for it, if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration,” he said.
Hirabayashi made certain that there was no confusion by stating, “Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now.”
So the remake may not be in development right now, but if fans make it perfectly clear that they want one then Capcom is willing to start development.
