About a week ago, a short news article in an Iranian news paper declared that the game World of Warcraft™ by Blizzard Entertainment™ is banned in the country.
This ban apparently is not only for WoW, but for Battle.net™ entirely, which also includes Diablo III™ and StarCraft II™ and any future Blizzard™ games that WILL be connected to Battle.net
The reasons for this ban – according to the article – are:
1. Promotion of superstition and mythology.
2. Promotion of violence due to too much violence.
3. Abolishing the deformation in sin.
4. Demonstration of inappropriate clothing and slutty outfits for female avatars.
The ban will affect all Battle.net™ account IPs apparently, so players will not be able to login into their games that require a Battle.net account at all.
This is not the only ban in Iran, BattleField 3™ was also banned in Iran before due to it’s content.
We can’t really judge them on this matter, it’s not up to us really. This situation is kind of similar to the ban of Spec “Ops: The Line™ ” in the U.A.E.
