The second THQ bankruptcy auction is over and Nordic Games has walked away with a hand full of titles. The company grabbed over 150 individual titles along with the Darksiders series, the Red Faction series and the MX series through a $4.9 million bid.
“First and foremost we are very happy about this deal which also turns over a new leaf for the entire Nordic Games Group. In the long term, we either want to cooperate with the original creators or best possible developers in order to work on sequels or additional content for these titles,” Lars Wingefors, owner and CEO of Nordic Games Group AB, said in the press release. “A very important point for us is not to dash into several self-financed multi-million dollar projects right away, but rather to continue our in-depth analysis of all titles and carefully selecting different financing models for developing new instalments of acquired IPs.”

Nordic publishes games under the DreamCatcher, JoWooD (Painkiller: Overdose, SpellForce: The Order of Dawn, The Guild 2) and The Adventure Company (Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon, Missing: Since January, Sam & Max Season One) labels.
Last year, a partnership between Remedy Entertainment and Nordic Games brought the retail Windows PC version of Alan Wake to the North American market through a deal with legacy Interactive
Nordic Games also publishes Mind Over Matter Studios’ SpellForce 2 series of role-playing games and King Art’s adventure game The Book of Unwritten Tales. King Art’s upcoming adventure game The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief is scheduled to be released for Windows PC, Mac and Linux on June 20.
