Actress Ellen Page, who stars in the upcoming supernatural game, Beyond: Two Souls has come out and said that she doesn’t appreciate Naughty Dog “ripping off” her likeness to Ellie from The Last of Us.
In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session, where notable guests log on to Reddit and answer questions from fans, someone asked Ellen Page, “Have you seen any footage of ‘The Last of Us’ and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?” Page responded, “I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated.”
Ellie’s appearance did change over the course of development, and her final form looks less like Page than she did initially, but it’s hard to ignore the similarities.
Page also answered some other questions about Beyond: Two Souls, as well as whether or not she actually plays video games:
“Making Beyond was an incredible experience. I think what David Cage is doing is really remarkable, the first of its kind and I feel grateful to be involved.”
“I played video games more when I was a kid. I had Sega Genesis and was a HUGE Sonic fan. I also love the NHL games and played them with my brother all time. Then I was super into PlayStation and loved the FIFA games. I recently played my first video game in a while. I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours.”
It will be interesting to hear from Naughty Dog about this.
