After its launch trailer at the PlayStation 4 event earlier this year, there has been no details about the third installment in the Infamous series, until now.
The new issue of Gameinformer shares the details on the story
The game takes places seven years after the events of Infamous 2 and follows the “good” ending of the game where SPOILERS Cole sacrifices himself and many other conduits to stop The Beast from rampaging through North America and creating more and more conduits. Some conduits managed to survive however, and now they’re labeled as bio-terrorists. The people of New Marias remember the heroic acts of Cole McGrath, but the rest of the country does not. The government in Second Son has created an agency to contain the living conduits and this is where the story begins in the game’s new setting, Seattle.
The city of Seattle has been essentially quarantined after a transport carrying a number of conduits crashes and the prisoners escape. The agency the government created called the, Department of Unified Protection, keeps a close eye on encounters like this and quickly enters the scene to keep anyone from entering or leaving the city until they can end the threat. The Gameinformer article relates the scene to an airport security checkpoint post 9/11. Citizens are routinely checked for any supernatural abilities and if found, are quickly detained without trial.
The new protagonist in Infamous: Second Son is named Deslin Rowe, a 24 year old Native American. During the early portion of the game, he comes in contact with the conduit transport mentioned above and soon learns that he too, is a conduit. Deslin has the power to control smoke, as well as other elements that Sucker Punch is currently keeping quiet on. The Department of Unified Protection is your main enemy in the game, but Sucker Punch hasn’t let the details loose on whose in charge yet. They also didn’t mention if there will be any mutant creatures to take on yet either, but we expect there will be some interesting foes to face in due time.
Infamous Second Son is set to release on the same say as the PlayStation 4.
